General introduction

Vam Sat is a famous eco-tourism site ( Vam Sat Ecopark) located in the Can Gio mangrove forest biosphere reserve – recognized by UNESCO in 2000- in Ho Chi Minh City, about 45 km from the city centre. Vam Sat was formed in 1979 in a forest planting campaign for Can Gio forest by the Youth Force volunteers.

Can Gio Mangrove Forest covers an area of up to 75,740 ha, which is home to many plants and animals. During the war, the forest was heavily damaged, later renovated, restored and protected as a place for scientific research as well as conservation of rare and precious animal and plant species.

During the ninety minutes of travelling by high-speed canoe, you will admire the darling beauty of a Saigon with a completely new perspective. On the way, you will see Phu My Bridge – the Ho Chi Minh City’s longest cable-stayed bridge and the mangrove forests. During the tour, you will move through mangrove jungle, explore Bat Lagoon (Dam Doi area) by rowing boat , visit a crocodile reserve, meet monkeys and enjoy a spot of bird watching. After that, you will enjoy the specialties of the eco-core zone for lunch. Sunset on Saigon river is one of the unforgettable memories for any travelers to end the emotional journey.

Depart to Can Gio mangrove forest, you will first check out the whole Phu My Bridge, then the rows of green coconut trees on the riverside and the dark mangrove swamp.

9:30Dam Doi tourist area (Bat Lagoon)

The boat will gently take you to the core area between the mangrove forests and the wharf of Dam Doi tourist area (Bat Lagoon) – where you can feel relaxed with two activities: using basket boat to explore Dam Doi area and catching crabs.

10:30Vam Sat Island

Leave Dam Doi tourist area to go to Vam Sat Island, where you will participate in the fearless activities like angling carnivorous crocodile on an electric motorboat or observe tram birds on Tang Bong tower

13:00Lunch

Depart to Vam Sat ecological garden, where you visit the crocodile sanctuary (you can feed them if you want!). Besides you have the opportunity to observe monkeys and their living habits, as well as participating in crab catching, watching local exotic birds and migratory species. You can also visit the mangrove forest again if you want.
